Spleen Shot 2000

March 26, 2000 –  The skies were angry that day. The Tulsa Lacrosse Club and Flying Monkey were engaged in an epic lacrosse battle. Jon Brenneman — star athlete, good friend, loving husband, heavy drinker — was charging downfield when a thunderous crash rang across the field. No, lightning had not struck, instead it was Todd Maloney, Tulsa defenseman.

Jon bravely struggled to his feet and staggered off-field. Within minutes he was back on the field, playing the game he loved. Little did we know that 40% of his blood was slowly seeping into his body from a ruptured spleen...

Fortunately, emergency surgery a few hours later went well. They were able to save the spleen and Jon was out of the hospital in a week. True, he won't be able to play for a year. But he has made a miraculous recovery.

And now, thanks to the Internet, the world will be able to see that fateful moment. Listen carefully for Jon Pope's appropo commentary:
