Thanks to Jason Ford, I have been able to fill in some details for the years 1991-1996. You can see them in the Hall of Fame.
I'm still missing quite a bit of detail, so if you have any information about these years, please contact me at
penrod@gpll.org.
The Rhinos emerged from this weekend as the 2007 league champions. Congratulations guys, you've come a long way in a short time!
See the Standings/Results page for all the details from the weekend.
TRIVIA: This is the first time the GPLL championship has gone to a team based outside of Kansas City since 1995.
The Championship tournament will be played July 21st at Blackbob Park. The schedule is:
| 11:00 | Tulsa vs Boulevard |
| 12:30 | Rhinos vs Flying Monkey |
| 2:00 | Consolation game |
| 4:00 | Championship |
We finally have the schedule for the July 14th round-robin. Tulsa has opted to not participate, so we have adjusted the schedule:
| Upper Field | Lower Field | |
| 10:00 | Bait Shop v Flying Monkey | no game |
| 11:30 | Wichita v Bait Shop | Rhinos v Boulevard |
| 1:00 | Wichita v Boulevard | Rhinos v Flying Monkey |
| 2:30 | (Optional) Tie-breaker |
Games will be played at Black Bob Park. The winner of this tourney will have a guaranteed spot in the Final Four next weekend.
The games in Tulsa and the Rhinos vs. Boulevard game in Omaha this weekend have been rescheduled for July 7th. The Flying Monkey vs. Boulevard game will be moved from July 7th to a date yet to be determined.
The 2006 season is officially underway __ check out scores on the Standings page. Bait Shop has come out strong as they defend their title, but all the teams are looking good this year. Good luck to everyone in the coming weeks!
2007 Season Underway
The kickoff weekend was a big success. Both Bait Shop and Rhinos came out roaring to start the season tied for first place. This looks like it'll be an exciting season. Keep checking the Standings/Results page as the season goes on.
Thanks to all the teams who traveled, and thanks to Flying Monkey Brewery for hosting the party. And let us know what you think about the kickoff weekend and the new schedule format on the message boards.
On June 9th all the teams will meet at Blackbob Park for a GPLL 2007 kickoff. Games start at 10:00 and run on two fields until about 6:00. Most teams will play two games.
After the games, Flying Monkey Brewery will host a party from 6:00-8:00.
Check out the schedule for game times, and see the map for directions to the field and the brewery.
The 2007 schedule has been posted, see the Schedule link on the left. The season starts June 9th with all the teams getting together in Kansas City for their first games.
If you've got a son, daughter, niece or nephew in the Kansas City area, show them this list of summer lacrosse opportunities.
I previously stated that the Tulsa club is no longer part of the GPLL. This is incorrect. Players on the Tulsa club team are continuing to play along with players in the newly formed Wichita club. These are two separate clubs combining forces to play as one team for this season.
UPDATE 2: The tournament bracket is now available as a PDF.
UPDATE: You can now pay online at the online Bait Shop Lacrosse store. You'll get a discounted price of $18 instead of $20 when you pay before the tournament. Don't forget to enter your team name in the notes section of your order.
I've also added All American Indoor Sports on the Field Maps page.
Bait Shop is hosting the 4th Annual Midnight to Dawn tournament again on Feb 9th (Friday night to Saturday morning). Games will be played at All American Indoor Sports in Lenexa, with a post-game party at Jerry's Bait Shop afterwards. Plus, all profits will be donated to the St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf.
See the Bait Shop site for details.
Happy New Year! I'm getting nostalgic, so I've added some results from the 1992 and 1993 seasons to the Hall of Fame. If you have any information to help me fill in the incomplete years of 1991-1996, please pass it along to me. Old newspaper articles or photos would also be welcome.
Additionally, as part of the 17th anniversary of this league, I would like to start a campaign to create a Player Hall of Fame. The campaign process will run through the 2007 season on the message board. Please join the discussion...
